Twin Turbo - Press Cleaning System, Paper Web Cleaning System

Get ready for take off and take control of your printing process.

An accumulation of dirt on the rubber blankets means a loss of time and materials, and is a constant hindrance to quality. But why should this be the case? If loose fibres adhere easily to the rubber, why can't they be removed in the same way?

Twin Turbo’s designers have solved this enigma that has persisted for many years.

The "loose" particles are not much in themselves, but they become trapped in an impenetrable layer - a moving curtain of air that travels along the paper web. This explains why they resist conventional vacuum cleaners. Twin Turbo cuts through the protective barrier and removes the particles without damaging the paper web.

This removes any remnants from the web before it reaches the first printing cylinder.

Main Benefits

  • Removes rubber remnants: printers have attested that there are fewer fibre remnants per million impressions than previously were found on runs of 50,000.
  • Consistent print quality, even on large runs: by eliminating the process by which dirt accumulates, the printing rubbers keep the correct diameter, which protects the amount of colour saturation. Furthermore, there is less wear on the ink rollers.
  • Stabilised ink systems: The ink rollers are permanently clean and preserve the ink’s properties and consistency. This greater stability means that the ink tanks are easy to check and require fewer additives during the run.
  • Extends the life of the rubber: even zones under web tension remain clean and therefore there is less likelihood of the rubber being in poor condition; less cleaning time needed.
  • Extends the life of the plates: reduces fibre and remnants that may cause abrasion.
  • Saves time: fewer stoppages for cleaning means time is saved for greater production capacity.
  • Saves materials: reduces paper waste, solvents and cloths and, in particular, greatly reduces maintenance time for cleaning.

Prevention is not only better than cure, it is also much cheaper

The accumulation of dirt on the rubber leads to a chain of costs and stoppages. It causes the chemicals to malfunction, threatens quality, requires the rubber to be washed frequently and generates friction in the press. It increases work and decreases productivity.

By implementing the Turbo Twin web cleaning system before the first unit is printed these problems will disappear. The system removes dust, fibres and other remnants. It also significantly reduces the amount of washing time, and therefore extends the length of runs between stops.

Strong forces applied to the surface take the remnants to areas of low pressure for removal.

The Twin Turbo uses its own software to provide "natural" contact. The rollers rotate at more than 60 revolutions per second to generate currents of air at high speed and high power which, crucially, creates an area of low pressure on the web surface. These impact forces break through the outer layer on the web and take the remnants to the area of low pressure.

These contaminating remnants are taken to a removal chamber ("Ventec" system). An integrated bar, the "Doctor-Beater" continuously cleans the rollers to prevent them from becoming dirty.

The system consists of a double cleaning head (to clean both sides of the web) with pneumatic lifters, motor starts, control panel, hoses and fasteners. The installation only needs electrical and vacuum connections, control signals from the press and a small amount of compressed air to drive the lifter.
